Double, then double again

To multiply by 4, multiply by 2 — then double once more.

Two rows of 5 and another two rows of 5 coming together to make four rows of 5
4 × 5 = __
Think of ×4 as doubling twice.
2 × 2 × 5 = __
First double 5 to get 10. Then double 10 to get 20.
2 × 10 = 20
The same idea · The 6s

Double the 3s

If you know a 3-times-table fact, double it to get the matching 6-times-table fact.

6 × 7 = __
Think of ×6 as doubling multiplication by 3.
2 × 3 × 7 = __
First work out 3 × 7 = 21. Then double 21 to get 42.
2 × 21 = 42

Just the 4s and 6s

4 × 7
This counts towards your Times Tables Recall progress.
📝 Learning stage: use paper, a whiteboard or a chalkboard if it helps. Work things out. This is practice for understanding — not a test of instant recall.
Use the shortcut if you need it.
For 4s: double, then double again. For 6s: find the 3s fact, then double it.
Remember
CHECKING IS NOT CHEATING.
If you forget a fact, use the T button and check it.
In maths, just like in real life, checking a fact is a sensible thing to do — not a failure.
You can stop here.
Repeat this strategy as often as you need before moving on.
